very helpful

This book gave a great overview and some routes through Ireland via bicycle. As I still have not totally planned my trip, I cannot tell how the recommendations are, but Lonely Planet guides are usually been excellent, in my experience. I wish it had more information on choosing between a guided and a DIY tour, as I am now trying to decide whether to do all the work in carrying luggage, making reservations and finding bikes B&Bs myself, or spending a little extra. It has good information about bicycles and the gear to bring along as well.

Useful, even if you don't stay on route

Last summer my brother and I went to Ireland. Using this as our only guide we were able to easily get around. The maps were good, the adivce was great, and I'm planning on going back next summer with the same book(unless they release a new edition).

The seed of this justly famous novelette came to Henry James in dinner conversation - just the mention of an American born family of upstarts shady and pretentious and traveling Europe like a band of gypsies captured his imagination. The brilliant boy of the family and his tutor become the perfect psychological tools to bring out the situation in all its absurdity. The Moreen family is one of fiction's most delicious creations.

A Compelling Short Story

I have been a fan of Henry James since I read his famous classic horror tale, 'The Turn Of The Screw', and his other fine story, 'The Aspern Papers'. Mr. James has since proven himself to be a very prolific writer with two other great short stories; 'The Beast In The Jungle', and 'The Jolly Corner'. 'The Pupil' is a finely woven story told in 19th century prose about a student/ teacher relationship that grows through the years, and the tension they both feel, as the teacher tries to save the boy from the reality of his dismal family life.

I think it’s a good example of class and how important it was at ...

This is a short story by Henry James, who would fall under Victorian literature, I think. He wrote during that time and, although he was American, he lived in England for a period of time. It revolves around a boy named Morgan and Penmberton, his tutor and the bond that they form as the boy’s affluent yet penniless family. They travel all over the world trying to make money and take care of their family. I think it’s a good example of class and how important it was at the time. Even if you were broke, if you fell into a certain class, you still earned a certain amount of respect from your piers even if you were skipping out on your hotel bills. I had a little bit of a difficult time grasping what James was really trying to say in this story. It seemed kind of pointless and, not to give too much away, kind of sad at the end. Maybe that was the point, that life has no point and bad thing happen to good people and visa-versa. It wasn’t the greatest story I’ve read, but it was food for thought. It’s kind of a quick read and probably free on Kindle. It may be worth for you to check out.

About the Author

Rick Graziani teaches computer science and computer networking courses at Cabrillo College in Aptos, California. Prior to teaching, Rick worked in the informationtechnology field for Santa Cruz Operation, Tandem Computers, and Lockheed Missiles and Space Corporation. He holds an M.A. in Computer Science and Systems Theory from California State University Monterey Bay. Rick is also a member of the Curriculum Development team for the Cisco Networking Academy since 1999.

Rick has authored multiple books for Cisco Press and multiple online courses for the Cisco Networking Academy. Rick is the author of the Cisco Press book IPv6 Fundamentals and has presented on IPv6 at several Cisco Academy conferences. Today, Metro Parks, Serving Summit County, manages 10,000 acres, including 13 developed parks, six conservation areas, and more than 120 miles of trails, with 21.5 miles of the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail. Annual attendance averages 4.5 million visitors. Since 2007, author Sarah Vradenburg, a former editorial writer for the Akron Beacon Journal, has studied archives, interviewed park visitors ,and hiked with current and former staff to help share a people-oriented history of the park district. The book contains historic and current photos, including a signature photograph of each open park at the time of publication. A review of the park district's directors and commissioners, from 1921 to the present, is also included.
